CHINTZ 36 x 36 inch Limited Edition Print

"The gems in my jewelry collection  inspired the colors in BROCADE.  As for CHINTZ, the story goes that in the early 1900's a young girl on an assembly line in an English china factory copied the flowers from her chintz apron onto scraps of clay so that she could test her colors.  When the owner saw her pretty palette, he asked the other ladies to copy the blossoms from their aprons on to his line of dinnerware and one of the most cherished and collectable china patterns was born.  It is called chintz."

"The board of the San Antonio Conservation Society commissioned this design & then had second thoughts, concerned that the public might think these traditional Mexican toys might be linked to prostitution!  Even though the curator of folk art at the San Antonio Art Museum said this claim was absurd, the Conservation Society played it safe and pulled the print off the presses.  These party dolls were never printed as a Fiesta poster, but they are now available as limited editions on paper and prints on canvas because of the public demand."
